  6.       The GIF command builds thumbnail image collage GIF files of the GIF
  7.       files you have flagged for download to allow you to preview the GIF
  8.       files before using your time and byte/file allotment to download the
  9.       individual GIF files.   For a quick start, just flag some GIF files
  10.       for download in the normal manner and then enter "GIF" at the main
  11.       menu command prompt or click on the GIF command button if you are
  12.       using RIP graphics.

  16.       On many bulletin board systems you are given a daily or weekly time
  17.       allotment, byte allotment, file allotment, file Download/Upload ratio
  18.       or some combination of these.  Because of this a lot of people get
  19.       frustrated after downloading a GIF file only to find that it is a copy
  20.       of one they already have, does not match the file description or is a
  21.       poor quality GIF image.  The GIF collage builder allows you to preview
  22.       reduced replications of the GIF files before you spend your allotment
  23.       downloading the individual GIF files.

  25.       You can create these collage files simply by flagging the GIF files for
  26.       download and then using the GIF command to create and download a collage
  27.       of these files instead of downloading the individual GIF files.

  29.       Each collage will contain a maximum of 9 reduced GIF images.  If you
  30.       have flagged more than 9 GIF files, the GIF command will automatically
  31.       create additional collage files until all of the GIF files you have
  32.       flagged are included in the collage files.  The GIF command can process
  33.       up to 99 flagged GIF files at a time.  Most SysOp's install the GIF
  34.       command in a way that will allow you to download and preview the collage
  35.       files built by the GIF command without effecting your time/byte ratio
  36.       or limit.  This, however, is strictly up to your SysOp. @X04
